Counseling services
We know that campaigning – not to mention campaigning against the backdrop of a pandemic, professional responsibilities, and family commitments – is hard no matter your gender. That’s why Her Term has made a commitment to including 100% confidential counseling services as a free or low-cost resource to you. Please DO NOT share this page, this service is only available to Her Term candidates.
-
Participation is 100% anonymous. No one, including Her Term staff, will have visibility into which, if any, candidates pursue this resource
Services will be free of charge or on a sliding scale and are committed through December of the election year. Continuation of service and at what rate will be determined by the provider.
All arrangements and dealings will be confidentially managed directly between candidate and the practitioner
See below for the list of highly qualified and values-aligned therapists, all of whom:
- Have come through referral and been vetted by Her Term for their support of progressive women in office
- Will participate in information sessions about the challenges facing women in politics
- Will have direct access to Her Term Executive Director, Han Pham, or outside candidates for background training (insight into politics and candidacy in general - candidate/patient-specific info is never shared outside the patient/practitioner relationship)

I can be contacted by email: nishmabarron@gmail.com or by phone: 770 209-2280.
I provide telehealth, so location is not a limitation unless the client wants in-person services.
Please see my Psychology Today profile. I'm a woman of SE Asian descent and almost all my clients are people of color. Many are first or second generation in the US. I have seen clients who practice (to different degrees) a variety of religions - Christians, Catholics, Hindus, Muslims, Jews - as well as people who are not religious or who identify as Pagan. I also work with people who have consensually non-monogamous relationships.

Hello, and, thank you for your dedication to public service. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor & Board Certified Life/Work/Organization/Corporate Coach in private practice for more than 40 years in the U.S.A. & internationally. I have been an American Red Cross Disaster Mental Health volunteer for 29 years. I work with adults, individually, in couples & in groups. Communication skills among national cultures in the workplace, relationships & the community are a specialty of mine. I am primarily a Cognitive Behavior Therapist (CBT) where I serve as an interactive partner in coaching & counseling providing feedback and skills training. CBT means that we: think > feel > behave. Our thoughts cause our emotions which result in our behavior. The bumper sticker on my car reads: "Don't Believe Everything You Think". I primarily work virtually on a secure video platform. For HerTerm participants, I will serve pro bono or sliding scale. I can be reached through: www.judycan.com, LinkedIn Judy Cantwell, Facebook Cross Culture Coach, 404-315-7331, judycanLPC@gmail.com. I like to respond within two hours. I am here to serve our mission!

I have a small solo practice in Decatur with a specialty in anxiety/OCD and I have an anti-racist, LGBTQ affirming practice. My approach involves listening and collaborating to develop skills that allow us to navigate emotions and thoughts effectively while acting in accordance with our values (ACT, DBT, CBT). I am equipped for virtual/video sessions and would have no more than one hour per week to offer.

Sliding Scale

https://www.viviandanielcounseling.com/
I help people who are feeling stressed and overwhelmed to better cope with challenges, change patterns of behavior that aren’t working, improve relationships with friends and family, and increase an overall sense of well being.
By providing a safe, supportive, nonjudgmental, and welcoming space, I help you explore how social, political, economic, and cultural factors impact your health and wellbeing. My approach is compassionate, culturally-responsive, and identity-affirming, with a social justice perspective.
Both my life and work experiences have shaped my work as a therapist. My life experience includes growing up as a child of Taiwanese immigrants, living in Europe as an adult, and advocating for social justice. My work experience includes providing counseling at Duke University Medical Center, Elon University Counseling Center, and multiple therapy agencies.
In therapy sessions, I use various evidence-based treatments to help you work towards your personalized goals. You can learn ways to cope with stress, how to not let your emotions overwhelm you, how to skillfully ask for what you need in your relationships, and to confidently communicate a kind no when setting boundaries at work or in your personal life.
Sessions are offered online via a secure format. Before beginning therapy with any potential new client, I offer a free 15-minute consultation to answer any questions and to see if we are a good match to work well together.

Stephanie Ezust, PhD, a psychologist in Decatur, Georgia, has been working as a psychotherapist since 1976, having come into this profession through the Women’s Health Movement. She currently works with trauma survivors, and increasingly with people around issues of ageing, illness, and dying. She lives with two rescue Siamese kittens who are about to celebrate their first birthday. She enjoys music (always hoping to reclaim that piano in the living room), movies, and books, as well as dancing, walking, and hiking, and most importantly, connecting with friends and family.
I see people in person (in Decatur) and on Zoom. Depending on the circumstances, I will see people as part of Her Term either on a sliding scale or pro bono (to be discussed. Emily’s goal in therapy is to help create a safe place where clients can show up authentically and explore parts of themselves that they have kept hidden. Through values exploration, mindfulness, meaning making, and cognitive exercises, it is Emily’s hope that clients will begin to experience freedom from old cognitive and behavioral patterns that have kept them stuck and feeling unfulfilled.

I believe psychotherapy is a collaborative partnership. Each client brings his/her strengths, vulnerabilities, stuck and wounded places, as well as the desire and potential to grow, change, and thrive. As the therapist-partner I am committed to creating a sense of safety and bring a willingness to be fully present and actively engaged. The way I listen, think, and participate in each therapy draws from several therapeutic traditions. These include Psychodynamic Psychotherapy with its appreciation for the healing potential within the therapy relationship as well as its understanding that one's past can profoundly effect present experiences and relationships; Cognitive-Behavioral Theory and Therapy which recognizes that the way one thinks dramatically impacts how one feels and behaves; and Buddhist Psychology which has taught me that awareness plus acceptance is a key facilitator of change. Please do call if I can answer any questions. 404 444-7758.
